Autoimmune Haemolytic Anaemia: A cross sectional study in a Tertiary Haematological Centre

Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (AIHA) is a group of disorders wherein autoantibody causes decompensated acquired haemolysis. There has been no epidemiological study autoimmune in Malaysia. This retrospectively analysed the epidemiology AIHA including Evan’s Syndrome Tertiary Haematology Centre Patients diagnosed with and at 18 years old above between 1 January 1994 to October 2020 out-patient Clinic Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh were selected. Patients’ information was retrieved from outpatient clinic records. A total 71 patients included which predominantly female. The mean age for both genders comparable. Ethnic stratification revealed higher Malays followed by Chinese Indian. Warm most prevalent 40.8%, compared cold (both 23.9%), mixed (11.3%). Primary more common than secondary Syndrome. Approximately half due SLE. Overall, 67.6% received corticosteroid only 28.2% combined immunosuppressant. Individuals females have risk developing highest prevalence seen among Malay ethnic. warm type majority syndrome are diseases.
